Lorem Ipsum Dolor

Education in the arts is an integral part of the development of each human being.

Those who have studied learning processes throughout the ages, beginning with Plato, have emphasized the importance of the arts in the education process. Arts education refers to education in the disciplines of music, dance, theatre, and visual arts. Study in the arts is integral to our society.

Research has shown Fine Arts programs are essential to the development of students in the areas of personal growth, cognitive development, academic achievement, and personal expression.. Fine Arts can offer students a low-stress yet socially connected environment.

Participating in choirs helps students improve their vocal skills, music reading skills, and musical memory.

Theater helps our students tap into their creativity, express themselves, understand other cultures and build empathy.

Research shows that music education can positively impact cognitive development. Playing an instrument requires cognitive skills like tracking time, reading notes, and processing key changes.

Our SMCS Fine Arts program provides students with non-academic benefits such as promoting self-esteem, motivation, aesthetic awareness, cultural exposure, creativity, improved emotional expression, as well as social harmony and appreciation of diversity. These are the very fibers of the fabric known as our American culture.
